Login Issues
Quick Summary
Having trouble logging in to ResponseIQ? This article covers the most common login problems including incorrect passwords, how to use the forgot password flow, troubleshooting Google OAuth issues, and what to do if your account has been locked.
Incorrect Password
If you receive an "Invalid email or password" error, double-check that you are entering the correct email address and password combination. Common causes include:
- Caps Lock is turned on, causing your password to be entered in the wrong case.
- You are entering a password for a different service or an old password that has since been changed.
- You originally signed up with Google OAuth and do not have a password set. If this is the case, use the "Sign in with Google" button instead.
- There is a typo in your email address. Verify that the email matches exactly what you used during registration.
Forgot Password Flow
If you cannot remember your password, you can reset it using the forgot password flow. This sends a password reset link to your registered email address.
- Go to the ResponseIQ login page.
- Click the "Forgot password?" link below the password field.
- Enter the email address associated with your account.
- Click "Send Reset Link."
- Check your email inbox for a message from ResponseIQ with the subject line "Reset your password."
- Click the reset link in the email. The link is valid for 1 hour.
- Enter your new password and confirm it.
- Click "Reset Password" to save your new password and return to the login page.
Important
If you do not receive the reset email within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder. Also verify that you are entering the same email address you used to create your account. If you still do not receive it, contact support@responseiq.io.
Google OAuth Issues
If you signed up with Google OAuth and are having trouble signing in, there are a few potential causes:
- You are trying to sign in with a different Google account than the one you used to register. Make sure you are logged into the correct Google account in your browser.
- You have multiple Google accounts active in your browser. Try using an incognito or private window and sign in with only the Google account associated with ResponseIQ.
- Google's authentication service is temporarily unavailable. This is rare but does happen. Wait a few minutes and try again.
- You or your Google Workspace administrator has revoked ResponseIQ's access. You will need to re-authorize the application during the sign-in process.
Pro Tip
If you originally signed up with Google OAuth but want to also set a password for your account, you can do so from the Account tab in Settings after you are logged in. Having both options gives you a fallback if Google OAuth encounters issues.
Account Locked
For security purposes, ResponseIQ temporarily locks your account after 10 consecutive failed login attempts. When your account is locked, you will see a message indicating that too many login attempts have been made.
Account locks are temporary and automatically expire after 30 minutes. After the lockout period, you can try logging in again. If you believe someone else is attempting to access your account, we strongly recommend resetting your password immediately after the lockout expires.
Note
If you need immediate access and cannot wait for the lockout to expire, contact support@responseiq.io with your account email address and our team can manually unlock your account after verifying your identity.
