Industry-Specific Responses

Last updated: 2026-02-19·4 min read

Quick Summary

ResponseIQ automatically adapts its language and terminology based on your business industry. The AI detects your industry from your Google Business Profile category and uses domain-specific vocabulary, references, and response strategies appropriate for your field.

How Industry Detection Works

When you connect your Google Business Profile, ResponseIQ reads the primary business category assigned to your listing. This category is used to inform the AI about your industry context. You do not need to configure this manually; it happens automatically during the connection process.

Note

If your Google Business Profile category is updated, ResponseIQ will pick up the change during the next sync cycle. You can also verify your detected industry in the Location Settings page.

Supported Industries

The AI has specialized response patterns for a wide range of industries. Here are some examples of how responses differ:

IndustryAI Adaptations
Restaurants & FoodReferences dishes, flavors, dining atmosphere, service speed. Uses food-related warmth like "We're glad you enjoyed the meal."
Medical & HealthcareUses empathetic, careful language. Avoids making health claims. References "care," "well-being," and "health journey."
Retail & ShoppingReferences products, brands, shopping experience, store layout. May mention return policies or new arrivals.
AutomotiveReferences vehicle service, repairs, maintenance. Uses terms like "back on the road" and "vehicle care."
Hospitality & HotelsReferences stays, rooms, amenities, comfort. Uses language like "We hope to welcome you back" and "your next visit."
Professional ServicesReferences projects, consultations, outcomes. Uses business-appropriate language about deliverables and results.
Beauty & WellnessReferences treatments, relaxation, self-care. Uses warm, personal language about the customer's experience.
Fitness & RecreationReferences workouts, classes, goals, progress. Uses motivational and encouraging language.

Why Industry Context Matters

A generic review response can feel robotic and disconnected. When the AI knows you run a restaurant, it can reference "your dining experience" instead of "your recent visit." When it knows you are a mechanic, it can say "We're glad your vehicle is running smoothly" instead of a generic "We're glad you're satisfied." These small details make responses feel personal and authentic to readers.

Pro Tip

Make sure your Google Business Profile has the most accurate category selected. A more specific category (e.g., "Italian Restaurant" vs. "Restaurant") gives the AI better context to work with.

Industries with Special Considerations

Certain industries require extra sensitivity in review responses. The AI is aware of these nuances and adjusts accordingly:

  • Healthcare: The AI never references specific medical conditions, treatments, or diagnoses mentioned in reviews, as doing so could violate patient privacy regulations.
  • Legal services: Responses avoid language that could be interpreted as legal advice or an admission of liability.
  • Childcare and education: The AI uses family-friendly, trust-building language and avoids referencing specific children by name.
  • Financial services: Responses avoid specific financial advice and are careful about claims regarding returns or outcomes.

Important

While the AI is designed to be sensitive to these industries, you should still review responses before they are published, especially for negative reviews in regulated industries.
