The 15-Minute Posting Delay
Quick Summary
ResponseIQ includes a built-in 15-minute delay between generating a response and publishing it to Google. This gives you a window to review, edit, or reject the AI-generated response before it goes live. You can also configure longer auto-publish delays to suit your workflow.
Why the Delay Exists
The posting delay is a safety net. While ResponseIQ's AI generates high-quality responses, no AI is perfect. The delay ensures you always have an opportunity to review what will be posted in your business's name before it becomes public on Google.
This is especially important for negative reviews, where an inappropriate response could damage your reputation. The delay gives you time to verify that the AI's response strikes the right tone and addresses the customer's concerns appropriately.
The Default 15-Minute Delay
By default, every AI-generated response is scheduled to publish 15 minutes after it is created. During this window, the response has a "Scheduled" status. You can view, edit, or cancel the response from your Reviews page at any time before it publishes.
Note
If you edit a scheduled response, the 15-minute timer does not reset. The response will still publish at the originally scheduled time with your edits applied.
Configuring Auto-Publish Delays
If 15 minutes is not enough time for your workflow, you can extend the auto-publish delay. This is useful for businesses that prefer to batch-review responses at specific times of day.
| Delay Option | Use Case |
|---|---|
| 15 minutes | Default. Good for businesses that check ResponseIQ frequently throughout the day. |
| 1 hour | For businesses that check in every hour or so. |
| 3 hours | For businesses that review responses a few times per day. |
| 6 hours | For businesses that review responses twice daily (morning and evening). |
| 12 hours | For businesses that review responses once daily. |
| 24 hours | For businesses that want a full day to review before publishing. |
| Never (manual only) | Responses are never auto-published. You must manually approve and publish each one. |
- Go to Settings from the left sidebar.
- Find the "Publishing Preferences" section.
- Select your preferred delay from the Auto-Publish Delay dropdown.
- Click Save.
Manual Publishing
If you set the delay to "Never," all responses remain in a pending state until you manually approve them. To publish a pending response, open the review, verify the response, and click the Publish button. This gives you full control but requires regular attention to avoid leaving reviews unanswered for too long.
Pro Tip
If you use manual publishing, enable email notifications for pending reviews. ResponseIQ will send you reminders at 9 AM and 5 PM local time so you don't forget to review and publish responses.
