Connecting Your Google Business Profile

How the Connection Works

ResponseIQ uses Google's official OAuth 2.0 protocol to connect to your Google Business Profile. When you initiate the connection, you are redirected to Google's sign-in page where you log in with the Google account that manages your business listings. Google then asks you to grant specific permissions to ResponseIQ. Once you approve, ResponseIQ receives a secure token that allows it to access your reviews.

Note

ResponseIQ never sees or stores your Google password. The OAuth token can be revoked at any time from your Google account settings or from within the ResponseIQ dashboard.

Step-by-Step Connection Process

Log in to your ResponseIQ dashboard and navigate to Settings > Google Connection, or follow the onboarding prompt if this is your first time.
Click "Connect Google Business Profile." You will be redirected to Google's OAuth consent screen.
Sign in with the Google account that owns or manages your Google Business Profile listings.
Review the permissions ResponseIQ is requesting and click "Allow" to grant access.
You will be redirected back to ResponseIQ. The system will automatically fetch your available business locations.
Select the locations you want ResponseIQ to monitor for reviews. You can add or remove locations later.

Permissions Required

ResponseIQ requests the minimum permissions necessary to manage your reviews. Here is what each permission allows:

Permission	Purpose
Read business profile information	Allows ResponseIQ to list your locations and display business names and addresses in the dashboard.
Read reviews	Allows ResponseIQ to fetch new reviews from your Google Business Profile every 15 minutes.
Manage reviews	Allows ResponseIQ to post approved responses to your Google reviews on your behalf.

Important

You must sign in with a Google account that has Owner or Manager access to the Google Business Profile. If you use an account without sufficient permissions, the connection will succeed but no locations will appear.

What Happens After Connection

After a successful connection, ResponseIQ immediately fetches your list of business locations. You can then select which locations to monitor. For each selected location, ResponseIQ begins syncing reviews automatically every 15 minutes. Existing reviews from before the connection are imported so you have a complete history in your dashboard.

Pro Tip

You do not need to connect each location individually. Once your Google account is connected, all locations associated with that account become available for selection.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

If you encounter problems during the connection process, try the following solutions:

"No locations found" — verify that your Google account has Owner or Manager access to at least one Google Business Profile. You can check this at business.google.com.
OAuth consent screen error — make sure you are not blocking third-party cookies in your browser, as the Google OAuth flow requires them.
Token expired — if your connection stops working after some time, go to Settings > Google Connection and click "Reconnect" to refresh the OAuth token.
Multiple Google accounts — if you are signed into multiple Google accounts in your browser, make sure you select the correct one during the OAuth flow. Consider using an incognito window to avoid confusion.
Permission denied on posting — if reviews sync correctly but publishing fails, confirm that your Google account has Manager or Owner level access, not just basic access.

Disconnecting Your Google Account

You can disconnect your Google Business Profile at any time from Settings > Google Connection. Disconnecting will stop review syncing and prevent publishing, but your existing review data and AI-generated responses will be preserved in ResponseIQ. You can also revoke access from the Google side by visiting your Google Account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
